May 19-22, 2023, are the dates for this year’s TBG Dan Quillian Memorial State Shoot. As with the last two years, the shoot will be held at the Deer Creek Traditional Bow Club in Monroe County Georgia. The physical address for this event is 184 Bobby Floyd Road, Forsyth, Georgia. The club property is well suited to an event of this magnitude and TBG has lots of great shooting planned. The site is also conveniently located with close proximity to the town of Forsyth and its hotels and eating establishments. There is also camping space available for tents and RVs, if that’s more your style. Camping is free. However, there are no hook-ups.

We will have three competitive courses this year. One is a Bowhunter Challenge Course. The shots on this course will require competitors to take various shooting positions to engage the targets. Don’t think that they will all be doable from a standing position. You’ll have to sit, stand, kneel, bend, stretch and who know what to be able to see and shoot at these targets. Top scores in the Men, Women, Primitive, Youth and Kids classes will participate in a shoot down on Saturday evening. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the shoot down.

We also plan to have a Team Competition this year. Same classes as listed above with one exception; the the primitive class will be replaced with a co-ed class for the Team event – one male and one female shooting as a team. This event will also wind up with the top scorers participating in a shoot down on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. with the top winners in each class receiving prizes.

We’ll have an Iron Man course consisting of ten targets set in tough spots. There will be a class for wooden arrows and another for “any arrow” to allow for maximum participation.

There will be several novelty shoots as well. The Pope and Young Challenge will be back again this year. So will the Eagle Eye and the Steel Pig shots. Each will have its own prize to the overall winner and we’re taking about nice prizes. You don’t want to miss the action this year.

So, make plans now to attend the 2023 TBG Dan Quillian Memorial State Shoot. You’ll be glad you did!
